I Cannot Bury My Father documentary

A short documentary (directed and co-produced by Nana-Jo N’dow) which focuses on the case of the 56 West African migrants forcibly disappeared and killed in 2005 by Gambian security forces on orders of Yahya Jammeh. The film follows Isaac Mensah, one of the victim's sons, who shares the family's account of how his father's death/disappearance continues to take an emotional toll on the family; and his journey to more answers.

The documentary has had quite a journey since its premier in January 2020. It aired on QTV, the most watched private channel in The Gambia during prime time, as well as on TV in Ghana. It has received media coverage from many news outlets including RFI, Radio Canada and Aljazeera. It was also screened by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and was selected for screening at the New York African Film Festival 2021 (NYAFF 2021).
